Beatrix zegt het in Litouwen met bloemen

LitouwenKoningin Beatrix zegt het met bloemen. Op maandag 2 juni overhandigt de Nederlandse ambassadeur in Litouwen, Annemieke Ruigrok, symbolisch een nieuwe tulp aan Alma Adamkiene, vrouw van de Litouwse president Valdas Adamkus. De tulp is genoemd naar de presidentsvrouw.

Tulipsbeatrix

De tulpen bloeien inmiddels al in het park bij het presidentieel paleis in Vilnius. Het groeiseizoen is in Litouwen later dan in Nederland, waar de tulpenpracht van de Keukenhof bijvoorbeeld al is uitgebloeid.

Het cadeau staat voor de vriendschip tussen Nederland en Litouwen, aldus een verklaring van het kantoor van president Adamkus. Koningin Beatrix wordt op 24 juni in Vilnius verwacht.

New variety of tulips named after Alma Adamkiene

On Monday it was presented in the park of the Presidential Palace today, by Ms Annemieke Ruigrok, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands.

 

The Ambassador noted that tulip was one of the official symbols of the Dutch state which the country is famous for and announced that this tulip would be officially registered in the International Cultivar Register as the "Alma Adamkiene tulip". Alma Adamkiene and the author of the tulip Jan Lichthart certified this by their signatures, informs ELTA.

 

The Dutch Ambassador also stressed that this present was a tribute to Mrs. Alma Adamkienë for herededication to Lithuania and especially to the children of Lithuania. "This year will be a very important year for the bilateral relations between Lithuania and the Netherlands since Her Majesty"s State Visit will be the very first in the history of our two countries. To mark this occasion we have had this tulip grown which has, if I am informed correctly, your favorite colours," Ms Ruigrok said.

 

"A flower is a symbol of love and friendship and in this particular case it will serve as a beautiful expression of good bilateral relations between Lithuania and the Kingdom of Netherlands," Alma Adamkienë said thanking for the present.

 

With this present the Kingdom of Netherlands have demonstrated friendship to the President Valdas Adamkus and his wife Alma Adamkiene on the eve of the visit of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands to Lithuania due on 24-26 June.


 

    

 

        

 

Beatrix thrills with 'Alma Adamkiene Tulip'

LitouwenQueen Beatrix has thrilled the First Lady of Lithuania with a new tulip, with the name "Alma Adamkiene Tulip". The new pecies, developed by Dutch grower Jan Lichthart, was officially presented to the Lithuanian presidential couple on Monday in the park of the Presidential Palace in Vilnius.

Ms Annemieke Ruigrok, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands, noted at the presentation that the tulip was one of the official symbols of the Dutch state which the country is famous for and announced that this tulip would be officially registered in the International Cultivar Register as the "Alma Adamkiene tulip".
